Features
- Citric acid is mainly used as an acidulant. The product is white or almost white, crystalline powder. It is odorless, has a strongly acid taste. Very soluble in water.
- MPI recommends the use of 0.2% citric acid solution as a suitable gear and vehicle disinfectant to help prevent the spread of M. bovis.
- Dairy NZ also recommends the use of Citric acid to acidify milk. Correctly acidifying milk kills M. bovis.

- 0.2% solution can be easily made by mixing 1 teaspoon of citric acid with 1 litre of water
- Easy to apply as a spray
- Highly soluble in water, soluble in milk
- Acidifying fresh milk using Citric acid (solution with pH between 4 and 5) kills M. bovis in the milk. PH of 4.5 is recommended.
